INTUIT Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art

Creating a vista on to the lower level Darger Room from the entrance and the street allows the jewel of INTUIT to be showcased, while letting the other Intuit program and exhibition spaces develop freely. From the street to the gallery spaces, the spatial sequence creates an entrance where visitors can feel the compression of a homelike space before entering the high ceiling galleries and multipurpose space. The compression/expansion order and its progression around the Darger Room sets the stage for the narrative, which Intuit tells about an art form that is not meant to be hung on walls but occupies every inch and every second of those who produce it, collect it, live in it and surround themselves with it.
