The Last Mile Project

As a founding Member of Archeworks’ Good City Group, Compagnon offers a series of cultural walks through three Northwest Side Neighborhoods of Chicago to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the 1816 Treaty of St. Louis, which settled the Indian Boundary Line. These also celebrate the three neighborhoods’ status as a historical Gateway to Chicago and give the communities a stronger sense of ownership for their public spaces.

With support from the 45th Ward Alderman’s office, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Graham Foundation, the Good City Group (GCG) along with fellow artists and local residents, created this temporary alley installation in Jefferson Park, one of Chicago’s far Northwest neighborhood. This served as a launching event to map routes for the culture walks, from one neighborhood to another and to encourage residents to walk, ride, skip, slide the last mile from the public transportation hubs to their final destination.
